krew rolls!

A few weeks ago, Krew wasn't rolling at all.  He just didn't seem interested.  He rolled a few times, randomly, but days apart and then nothing.  In fact, the first 4 times he rolled over, I missed it!  I couldn't believe it, I mean I am with him all the time, and I missed his first 4 rolls!  The fourth roll was the best.  I put him down on his back, turned around to get his toy box out of the cabinet, and when I turned back around, three seconds later, he was already on his tummy!  From that point on, he hasn't stopped rolling.  He pretty much went from no rolling to rolling all over the floor.  If I look away for half a minute, he'll be clear on the other side of the room!  I had to get a video of my little steamroller!
He also makes some pretty cute sounds in the video if lots of rolling isn't enough to get you to watch!

easter

Easter came and went so fast this year.  I felt like I had barely started to think about Easter, and now it's already been a week since Easter!  We did get to do a few fun things to celebrate what Ky has now deemed his favorite holiday.  Here are the highlights:
Ky and Kade decorated sugar cookies to look like bunnies.
After seeing the idea on Pinterest (where else?), I made the boys this fun egg carton lunch.  I vaguely remember having something like this as a child--did that happen, mom?  Or am I imagining it?

Of course we had an egg hunt in our pajamas Easter morning.

And all 3 of my boys wore their matching Easter clothes to church.  The twins ties were fairly easy, and the tie onesie was super easy.  I'd better be careful not to get too carried away, otherwise I might go crazy and make them all dozens of matching ties and insist that they match every week, because I think it is just that cute!  (And I thought it was cute to dress my twins up in matching clothes--add a little, chubby baby to the matching party and it takes it to a whole new level of cuteness!)

And because I think everyone wants to see most all of the pictures I take of my adorable kids, here are a few random ones from this past week!

diy chevron cabinet

After finishing a family room downstairs, and the furniture shuffle that followed, I was left without a media cabinet to go under the TV in our living room.  I could not believe how much a new cabinet was going to cost, even for an ugly one.  So, Bart and I have been on the hunt for a used cabinet that we could redo.  A month or so ago, we found this "beauty" at a thrift store for $25!  It was in such sad shape, we could tell that it was homemade-but very sturdy, and I loved that it was so plain because I knew I could go in so many different directions with it.
 Before
See?  Pretty sad-but I could see the potential and I was so excited to get started!
The first thing I did was get out the crayons!  I quickly sketched out a few of the ideas I had in my head for what we could add to make the cabinet awesome!  Originally we were going to go with the second design, by adding wooden plaques to the fronts of the doors, but it just never felt like it was coming together the way we wanted it to.  So, we decided to go with the chevron cabinet instead.

After
I love how it turned out!  It is such a fun piece, and one of a kind, which I love about it.  I have to give Bart so much of the credit for this cabinet.  I told him what I wanted, but while I fed and held the baby, he painted, cut, and sanded most everything.  I couldn't have done it without him.  We make a great team, and it makes me excited to see what else I can design, and tell Bart to paint!

A couple of my favorite details are the legs which we painted a very reflective metallic silver.  It's hard to see in the photo, but it adds a fancy, subtle touch, like jewelry.  I also love the knobs we found, which are deep purple glass.  I knew I wanted just a touch of purple on the front to go with the gray and white chevron, and I was happy to find the perfect knobs.

As you can see from the before pictures, the inside was pretty hideous, and since I knew people would see inside when we had to open the cabinet to be able to use our remote controls while watching TV or movies, I decided to make the inside as cool as the outside.  I painted the sides and shelves gray, the inserts on the shelves white, and added some textured, purple paper in the back.  I love how it looks, inside and out!

five months!

Krewbee is five months old!  I feel like his physical growth slowed down this month, but he has learned new tricks, and his personality is really beginning to shine!  He giggles a lot, he rolls over, he entertains himself with baby toys (mostly by putting them in his mouth and slobbering all over them), and he babbles quite a bit.  We are so happy to have him in our family and we have loved these past 5 months!

He was such a happy boy during this month's photo shoot that I got a bit carried away, so pardon the picture overload-I just couldn't narrow them down any more than this!

The above picture is my favorite!! I love his little smile, and he reminds me a ton of my baby pictures!  He is definitely mommy's baby.

I think he looks like a little cherub in the above photo.  He has the round cheeks, the little curls at the ends of his hair, all he needs are some wings :)

Getting a little smooch from Daddy!

This next series of pictures show what happens when you try to get a baby who can't sit up by himself really well to sit up for his photo shoot.
Daddy trying to balance him (I love the look on his face-not really sure what's happening)
Hurry and snap the picture before...
 he tips over!
We tried it again and got a few more cute sitting up shots.  It's going to be so fun to see how well he's doing at this for next month's photo shoot!

spring break: part six-burgers!

Before heading down to Madison, we did a little "research" online to find out what are the "must-dos" there that we've never done before.  One thing that kept coming up was this burger place, Dotty Dumpling's Dowry.  According to several sources, they have the best burgers in the state!  So, we knew we had to give it a try.  Walking up to the restaurant reminded me of Man vs. Food.  Our family loves that show, but I can't tell you how many times they show the outside of a restaurant, and I say, "I would never drive by that place and decide to eat there."  Meaning, I totally judge a book by it's cover when it comes to restaurants.  But, then on the show, they have the most delicious looking food, and I know that I must be missing out on some yummy food when I refuse to go eat somewhere just because it looks dumpy.  This is one such place.

Without the many recommendations about the food, I don't think I would ever have ventured in here, but I'm sure glad we did!  Bart started with this delicious chocolate malt.  (Yes, he shared some with me).  It was no generic malt either, it was flavorful, creamy, and good!

I call this one, "How many people can you cram into one booth?
And this one I call, "How much food can you cram onto one table?"  Doesn't it look yummy?
Bart wanted a close-up of his burger,  It had a pool of bbq sauce surrounded by an onion ring, on a slice of cream cheese, on the most flavorful burger! And those aren't cucumbers, but homemade pickles!  Yum! I didn't take a picture of mine, but it had bacon, three cheeses, and a garlic cream sauce.  They really were delicious and I'm so glad we stopped there for dinner.

spring break: part five

When we had worn ourselves out at the children's museum, we headed onto campus to see where they make cheese and ice cream. (Sounds like an appropriate thing to do in the dairy state!)  There wasn't much going on down below, but it was neat to see all the different machines they use in cheese and ice cream production.

We were even treated with a visit from Bret, taking a break from school to stop over and say hello!
We couldn't see where they made ice cream, and then not eat any, so when we were done with our tour, we stopped to get some of the delicious stuff!  I have to say it was some of the most yummy ice cream I've had in a long time. (And cheap too :))
Outside we let the big boys run and wrestle in the grass, because we all know that's what they want to be doing most of their waking hours anyway.

And of course, little miss Lynndon watched...
