bowling party

Bart's brother Bret's birthday was this past Monday, so we helped him celebrate by going bowling. The boys love to go bowling, especially the part where they get to look on the screen and see whose turn it is and how many pins they knocked down that turn. Bret's wife Charise beat us all, and let's just say that I bowled on the lane with Kade and Ky, with bumpers, and only did slightly better than the three-year olds. A far cry from the time before I had kids and I went bowling with Bart at his company party, and beat everyone there with my 5 strikes in a row! Still, bowling poorly with my children is more fun than bowling well without them.

twilight DVD party

Saturday night I had a bunch of friends over to watch Twilight new on DVD. I've been planning this party for quite a while and I had lots of fun planning all the details. There were quite a few people there that I didn't know very well, and it was fun to get to know some more people here in our new place. We ate lots of yummy food (everyone was very creative with their Twilight-themed snacks), watched the movie, and gabbed. Thanks everyone for coming!

Here's the sign I made to hang on the front doorThe table decorations and candy bar

I printed a bunch of quotes from the book and spread them out on the table
I put different tags on the glasses so everyone would remember which glass was theirs after setting it down. I made strawberry flavored red heart ice cubes to put in soda for the drink. It was yummy and a cool effect.
These are the red velvet cupcakes that I made. My sister-in-law Charise made red velvet cupcakes too, and it wasn't planned at all. She put edible glitter on hers so they sparkled.

My blood (red caramel) covered red apples. Very Twilightish, and yummy!
Someone brought these Twilight sweethearts and Twizzlers "Bites."

More blood...Strawberries and angel food cake

My friend Greta made this yummy red popcorn. We also had "blood" popsicles, apple crisp, Count Chocula bars, and cookies.

At the end of the night, everyone went home with a box like this filled with goodies. What a fun, night!

weekend fun!

This past weekend, we went to visit with Bart's aunt, uncle and cousins who were vacationing a few hours away from us. They had not met Kade and Ky yet, so we were excited for the chance to get together with them. They were staying at a lodge with an indoor water park (I know, I'd never heard of such a thing until we moved here.), and they were kind enough to give the boys some of their passes so the boys could swim. They did not like the parts that sprayed water at them, but they loved the purple slide and splashing in the kiddie pool.

After they played in the water, we ate dinner, visited, and had a great time. There was this beaver in the hotel lobby passing out cookies, so we went to see him. Kade and Ky loved him, and even got him to dance and jump up and down. They were pretty excited that Chip was copying them!
Thanks Von and Chris, it was so good to see you!

proud aunt

Last week, my mother-in-law and I (and Kade & Ky) went to visit my sister-in-law Charise to wish her a (late) birthday. I didn't manage to take any pictures of the birthday girl, but I took some cute ones of her little boy Cooper. He's four months old and oh so adorable. So, here's proof that I have the most adorable nephew!

dough!

A few days ago, the boys and I had some fun with bread dough. Here they are helping me make the dough. They had a great time kneading it! (Notice the awesome aprons my mom made for them!)
While we waited for the dough to rise, we all played with our cameras.

The boys ran around the living room.

Ky played with his camera some more

We made shapes with the dough, baked them and this is the finished product!
