what have we been doing?

Wow, it seemed like the winter months would drag and I never posted because we never did anything "blog worthy." Now that it is warm, we are doing lots and I don't get time to post.
So, here is a quick list of some of the things we have been doing lately:
Making pizza! We have pizza every Friday for Fun Family Friday, and we usually just order it, but a few weeks ago we decided to make homemade pizza and let the boys each make their own. It was fun!

Celebrating our 6th anniversary. Bart and I went to Chicago and went to the temple to celebrate our anniversary. Then we spent the rest of the day shopping in Milwaukee.

These flowers around the temple were gorgeous!
We've been going to the park

We went to the zoo on Saturday with our friends Kim and Sam and their two boys. The boys' favorite thing there was this carousel. They haven't stopped talking about it.
On Memorial day, we went to a parade and spent the evening at Bart's parents' house, making homemade ice cream, seeing the tiny new bunnies...

And climbing in the trees!

stop motion second attempt

I (Bart) continue to play with some stop motion software and film ideas. I recently saw the video for Oren Lavie's "Her Morning Elegance". The song isn't my favorite (although it is growing on me), but the video is amazing. I couldn't help but try and make my own version! There are a lot of flaws, blurred photos, and plenty of errors ... but I'm learning and having a great time! Kade and Ky aren't the best subjects, but we had a great time working on this together.

Here is the original, if you haven't seen it. One of my favorite stop motion videos.

The next one is my version. Again, not perfect, but fun. Let me know what you think!

six years

Six years ago today, Bart and I went to the Mount Timpanogos temple, with butterflies in our stomachs, and came out with smiles that lasted throughout that most perfect day! I'm so lucky to have found someone so perfect for me, and so happy to have been married to him for six years already!

Thank you Bart for being such a great husband and the best friend any girl could ask for! We really are MFEO :), and I'm excited to see what the next six years together has in store! I love you!

iowa trip!

We just got back from our trip to Iowa for Tulip Time. We went to visit Bart's extended family and participate in the festival put on in his grandparents' town. Many of the original settlers of the town were Dutch (as are Bart's grandparents), hence the tulips.
The boys did really good in the car on the way there. Thanks mostly to our portable DVD player. They were very excited the first night to discover what sleeping bags were, and I think that they might have been the highlight of the entire trip for them.
Friday we walked around town and saw a lot of tulips. I only managed to find two "New Moon" tulips, but I guess two is better than none.
In the afternoon, the boys were in the parade in their little dutch boy costumes, complete with wooden shoes. The best part was that these costumes were ones that Bart and his brother wore in the parade when they were little. The boys were too tired to really enjoy being in the parade, but it was fun anyway.

That night we went to a BBQ at Bart's uncle's house and just visited with his mom's side of the family.

Saturday we got up and went to check out more of the festival. We stopped to play at the children's corner with some little carnival style games for the boys to play. They had a great time here.

Later that evening, we went to another BBQ with Bart's dad's side of the family. There were lots of people to visit with, lots of yummy food, and a chance for everyone to get together before Bart's uncle Von is deployed to Iraq for a year.
The boys had such a blast on the four-wheelers. At first they were scared of them, but once they got up the courage to try, they didn't want to stop. They just kept putting on a helmet and waiting for someone to take them on another ride. I even got to ride on one with Bart, it was quite romantic!
