winter fun

We've been lucky so far that the weather this past month has been great.  It hasn't been too cold, but we've had just enough snow to keep the boys happy!  The first time it snowed, I took Krew outside to see the snowflakes.  They were huge and coming down softly (as opposed to the way it usually snows here--vertically!).  Krew thought it was awesome!  

If you look at the house in the background, you can see some of the snowflakes.  He liked to catch them on his mitten and watch them melt, but he was a little frustrated about trying to walk on the grass in shoes.

The day after Thanksgiving, we went to get our Christmas tree.  We found this really cute tree farm that you get to cut down your own tree.  Krew wasn't sure what to think about Rudolph!

We got to ride on a "train" to get out to the trees to select the perfect one.

Our family is getting kinda big to take pictures using the "reach your arm out and take a picture of yourself" method!

We found the perfect tree!  It's shorter than the ones we've had the past several years, but I was a little worried about the little guy pulling it over, so this one is just right!

After we got our tree, we came inside for hot chocolate and to warm up.  It was cold and windy that day!

october fun

Here are some more -out-of-order-but-I-still-want-to-include-them pictures and memories!

Back in October, I took Senior Pictures for a girl from church.  When I got out all of my equipment, Ky volunteered to help me make sure everything was working right.  He's such a cute kid, but he does not like to have his picture taken.  (I think it's just the fact that having his picture taken means he has to hold still for a whole second).  Anyway, it was fun to get some cute, simple pictures of him.  Plus, I've gotta say that the green wall in our kitchen makes an awesome backdrop!

All month long, while I was making their Halloween costumes, as soon as I would finish another part, they both wanted to try them on and play Star Wars.  Here are some pictures from one such occasion.

On October 11th, Krew had another haircut.  He had had several already, but this time I was going to let my friend Greta give him a real haircut.  I have always loved Krew's hair, as I'm sure I have mentioned here several times, and it was hard for me to give him a real haircut.  Plus, he was almost one, and I knew an actual hairstyle would make him look instantly older.  But, it was getting in his eyes, and it really was too long.  So, here are the before pictures:

And the after pictures.  It took me a few days to get used to it, and then I really did think it was handsome.  But I was right about it making him look older, and I don't think I was ready for that.  Plus, his hair got so much lighter because the haircut took off the last of his dark tips.  But, I think he is the cutest little blondie ever!

flashback to september

Since I haven't been very good at blogging the past several months, I decided to do a few random posts just to make sure I include some of my favorite pictures and memories.  So, even though these are our of order, enjoy!

One day in September, Krew-baby was sick.  He just wanted Daddy to snuggle him.  It was sad to see him feeling so rotten, but it made for some great pictures and some sweet snuggle-time!

In September, Bart went out of town for a conference.  We are so lucky that Bart almost never has to travel for work.  But since he was gone, the boys and I took full-advantage of the chance to make cinnamon rolls.  See, Bart is allergic to cinnamon-I can't even cook with the stuff.  Unless he is out of town. Then we make a huge batch of cinnamon rolls and eat them for breakfast, lunch and dessert.  Yum!

I look back at these pictures and I can't believe how much Krew has changed since then!  His hair is so much lighter, he's bigger, and he really looks much more grown up already.

halloween

I spent a lot of time in October making Halloween costumes.  Five Halloween costumes.  But it was totally worth it, because we all had THE best, coordinating costumes, and I hardly spent anything!  Kade and Ky love Star Wars, and since there are lots of fun character options, we went with it.  The hardest part for the boys was agreeing on which characters they wanted to be.  Kade was super set on being Darth Vader.  (I don't know what his obsession with being the bad guy is.  Remember this Halloween?  Should I be worried?) Ky had a hard time deciding between a storm trooper, Anakin, a clone trooper, and a few other ideas, and finally settled on Luke Skywalker!  Don't they look awesome in their costumes? Best friends and arch enemies.  They sure know how to play the part as well!

Krew's costume was seriously the thing that settled us on being Star Wars characters in the first place.  Isn't this the CUTEST R2-D2 you have ever seen?  I'm in love!!

Bart and I like to dress up for Halloween, but we like it even better when we are dressing up with the kids.  It feels less like we are thirtysomethings playing dress ups, and more like awesome parents who dress up with their kids.  Leia was the obvious choice for me, but Kade and Ky had lots of ideas for Bart.  In the end, Han Solo is the only one that can kiss Leia so we went with that to avoid any awkward moments.  Are we the coolest (or nerdiest) family ever?  I think so!

Halloween night we all went trick-or-treating together.  I usually stay home and hand out candy, but I did not want to miss Krew's first year trick-or-treating (it wasn't his first Halloween, but he was only 3 days old last year, so I'm not sure that counts).  It sure was fun (even though it was cold!) to be out together as a family.  Plus, we got lots of comments on our matching costumes!

Also, it did not take Krew long to realize that yummy stuff is kept in those orange buckets! That's my boy!
