At the beginning of July, my mom came out to visit for about a week and we played hard! We tried to cram in as many fun adventures while she was here as we could.
One of the first things we did was find this fun "hike" to a waterfall, that although it is only about 25 minutes from our house, we have never visited before. (I use the term "hike" here loosely as I am from Utah, and nothing we ever do here in Wisconsin could ever be considered an actual hike.) Ha, ha! It was still lots of fun, and pretty. Plus, since it wasn't an actual hike, it only took about 4 minutes to see the whole thing.
Another day we took a day-trip to Madison, Wisconsin. Our first stop was the zoo! We've been there a number of times, and we are always surprised by what a great FREE zoo it is! Of course the kids had a blast, and Krew wanted to stop at each exhibit and make a video of himself talking about the animals for his YouTube channel.
Our next stop on Madison was Cave of the Mounds. It's a really awesome cave tour underground. It was spectacular! You would never guess driving through the area of farmland that there are these awesome caves there.
I have always wanted to have a geode and watch it break open, ever since I was a little girl. So, I was ecstatic when Bart bought one for me! Of course the boys all wanted to buy one for themselves as well.
Another fun adventure we had with my mom was traveling up to Door County to see this gorgeous park/cliffs/beach area. We had fun walking around, seeing the gorgeous sites and enjoying the beautiful weather.
It was so pretty there!
We hadn't planned on actually making it a beach day, so we were a little unprepared to get all wet and sandy, but that didn't stop the kids fro getting right in and getting soaked. They loved it, up until the moment they had to walk back up the car soaking wet and covered in sand.
I would call this a perfect day!
