little gym fun, again!

Kade and Ky just finished another semester of their sports skills class at The Little Gym. They have had so much fun, and it's nice for them to be with other kids and learn to listen to a teacher. Since they love playing sports at home, I like that they get a chance to play in a more structured setting, without being competitive...yet!
One of the funny things they have started to do at class lately is make up a new name each week and expect their teachers to call them that. They've been Buzz Lightyear, Spiderman, Ratchet, and Clank, etc. It's pretty funny.

snow fun!

The boys and I went outside to play in the snow a few days ago. They have been out in the snow several times with Bart, but I finally made myself get out in the snow too. We made snow angels, played fox and geese, and the boys tasted the snow.

the boys' 4th birthday celebration!

For Ky and Kade's 4th birthday, we took them bowling with grandma, grandpa, and aunt Sadie. They have been asking to go again for several months, so their birthday seemed like the perfect chance. It's always fun watching them get so excited to see whose name comes up next on the screen, and jumping with excitement as they watch the ball roll toward the pins. Such a good time!
After bowling we went for dinner at IHOP. Ky and Kade could not believe that there was a restaurant devoted to pancakes and french toast, and that you could get them for dinner. It was like a dream come true!
Please ignore the huge hot chocolate dribble all down the front of Kade's shirt. Now that I've pointed it out.

After dinner we came home and opened presents (for like the fourth time in 4 days.) Their last present was a clue to a treasure hunt that led them all through the house and ended up down in the basement where they found this:

A new swing...indoors. There was also a rope ladder to play on too. So great when it's too cold to go to a park about 7 months out of the year here. And don't worry, although not pictured here, we did put down some nice padding under the swing so we don't have to worry about them falling off and cracking their heads on the cement.

The following Saturday, we had some of their friends over for a superhero birthday party. I wish I would have got more pictures, but it was too hard trying to play mom, party coordinator, hostess, and photographer all at the same time.

In case you can't tell, that's supposed to be Spiderman's face. Don't laugh.

The first thing we did at the party was each child decorated their own super hero cape. They all turned out different and very good. Next we took pictures of the kids in their new capes.

Blowing out the candles together. We got them trick candles, and I think we may have been a year or two early for them, because I don't think the boys quite understood what was going on, and they didn't think it was very funny.
