seaworld and siesta key

We were lucky to have my mom visit us for a few days. It was so nice to have someone else to entertain the boys (which she is so good at), and someone to help cook and clean. We don't get to see our family enough, so we took advantage of the time she was here. We went to Sea World on Monday. I haven't been since I was 9, and I was very excited to see what the boys thought of everything. The first thing we saw when we got there was the dolphin show, which was spectacular! The boys had a great time, and can't stop talking about it. One of the best moments was taking them on the first kiddie ride. Their faces were pure glee, and I couldn't help but laugh and smile at their excitement.

We went on over to Downtown Disney after Sea World for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. The boys love Downtown Disney, especially playing with Mr. Potato Head
Tuesday we went to Siesta Key Beach. The water is the most gorgeous blue, and the sand is so fine and so white. Here Ky holds a handful of sand to add to the sand castle they made with Grandma

My mom made these adorable cars for the boys. (She is so talented!) They haven't stopped playing with them.

grandparents, haircuts, and an eclipse

We were lucky enough to have a visit from Bart's grandparents. It was really good to see them and for them to be able to see Kade and Ky. Because everyone was sick, we didn't get to spend as much time with them as we would have liked, and I only got one good picture, but I think it is pretty sweet picture of Grandpa Bob reading a "Bob the Builder" book with Kade.

Both boys called him Grandpa Bob the Builder
The boys do not like to get their hair cut, and this was Kade showing his disapproval of the idea.
Ky's before shot
Kade after--this was the easiest, calmest haircut yet. Good job boys!
Ky sporting his new 'do and melted chocolate chips on his face (a standard haircut bribe.)
Bart and I went outside last night to see the lunar eclipse. We were out there for quite a while, and decided to go out later to see how it had progressed. This is a picture after the eclipse was over. It was really cool! I think if you click on this picture and look close, you will be able to see the whole moon.

idol's on

After a couple of weeks being sick with bronchitis and possibly pneumonia on top of the bronchitis, there hasn't been much going on around here to blog about. But, we have been excited about the new season of American Idol. It's going to be an exciting season, I can feel it!

snowstorm in florida!?

Here is a picture of a very rare snowstorm in Florida...just kidding. Bart had a few job interviews out-of-state and the group flew the whole family out. They must understand how much say the wife has in the decision where to accept a job. They also must understand that Kade and Ky and I are sort of a package deal at this point.
The boys loved playing in the snow, and we thought we would never get them back inside. We had a great, short trip, other than the fact that half of us came back with pretty severe colds. (yes, I'm part of that half.) I'm sure the other half will follow soon. I guess that's what happens when your body experiences a 70 degree weather drop in a matter of hours. Or maybe this is my body's way of telling me we need to stay in a warm climate!

ready, get set, go!

Kade and Ky participated in a little children's race on Saturday. It was such a fun morning. There were booths giving away snacks, stickers, coloring pages, etc. Then, it was time for the big race. (By big race, I mean a 30 yard race of just the two-year-olds.) Unfortunatley, the older kids all raced first, so we had to wait over an hour for their age group. Kade was tired of waiting by that point, and Daddy had to hold his hand while he ran and cried. Ky took off running and was one of the first few to cross the finish line.
The boys loved this cat!
