we went to san francisco-day 2

Day two of our San Francisco trip was so different than our first day, but equally fun and full!  We started the day by riding from near our hotel to Fisherman's Wharf on the classic red trolley cars.

We could not get over how steep the streets are through such a busy downtown.  It was crazy to see people hanging off the sides of the trolley cars as they went up and down the steep streets.
Our first stop was Boudin for breakfast.  There were so many yummy baked goods and breads for sale.  I could have probably been fine spending the whole day there just eating baked goods!

It was fun to watch them make these rosemary potato rolls.  I wish I a) had the recipe and b) was better at making breads, because they looked so yummy!
From there, we spent the next few hours enjoying the sights and sounds, and smells at Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39.  It was hard to believe that we were only a few miles away from where we had spent the previous day, because it felt so different.

Don't these strawberries look amazing?  And they were all huge!!
For lunch, we ate at another Boudin bakery, this time we had clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl, and the yummiest grilled cheese on sourdough.  When in San Francisco, right?

Our next attraction: Alcatraz!

Even just taking the ferry out to the island was fun, and so pretty!

I had been on the Alcatraz tour before, but it had been awhile.  I remembered some of it, but I was still fascinated by the whole thing.

I think it was a "bit" windy out there!
These are our two favorite rules from Alcatraz, and we are currently working on implementing them in our own home, hee hee!

When we got back, it was dinner time, and since we were right on the water, we knew we had to have seafood of some kind.  The problem was deciding what and where.  It all looked so good!  (okay, well most of it did anyway.)

In the end, I decided on two (huge) lobster tails, and I was not disappointed!

We had another amazing view from our table. Oh, and Bart wasn't bad too look at either!

I call this one, my dinner and my bump!
After dinner, we decided to check out one more touristy destination:
There were several cute little shops, but we were a bit worn out, so we didn't stay long.
We did decide to have some ice cream from Ghiradelli, again with an amazing view from our table!  And because two lobster tails wasn't enough food, we ate this:
Yum!
