tourney time

I had mixed emotions today, watching my two alma maters battle it out on the basketball court. I was surprised that Florida even made it to the NCAA's, so in the end I felt is was appropriate that the Cougars won, ending a long skid of first round losses. Besides, I figure double overtime is just about as close as you can get to both teams winning.
I was extremely impressed with the play of Jimmer Fredette and his ability to drive to the basket and create his own shot. I have grown tired of college players settling for jump-shots and enjoyed his style of play.

Another Cougar also caught my eye. Michael Loyd Jr. Actually it was Michael's goatee that really impressed me and I was again reminded of an important fact: HONOR CODES DON'T APPLY TO ATHLETES.

Listen, it's not that I'm offended or think it's wrong that someone play basketball with facial hair ... it's just that supposedly BYU does! Trust me, of all people I would know. I was informed of this fact many times by the kind people at the BYU testing center. Even one of my teammates would bring a razor to our intramural softball games, just in case Bart's 5 o'clock shadow ... was actually from yesterday. If I could only shoot the three ... maybe it wouldn't have mattered.

Anyway, I will continue to cheer for the Cougars and hope they play well against K-State. Besides, if all else fails ... we can just give them an 'ole whisker rub!

nothing too exciting

I haven't been able to think of anything to blog about lately. Maybe it's because the winter has been dragging on and we haven't done anything too exciting lately. Or maybe it's because I haven't been very good about taking pictures when we do something fun. Or maybe it's because Bart has been taking our new pocket camcorder everywhere and taking pictures with that, and I haven't tried downloading them to our computer. So, I thought I would just post a few random pictures and a few random thoughts in case you've been wondering what's been going on.
The boys are into everything superhero lately. Every day I have to guess which superhero they are and they expect to be called that all day, except when they are tired or sad, and then they are just Kade and Ky. This picture is Kade striking his Spider-man pose.

Last week we met some friends at the train museum. I think the thrill of the trains is diminishing each time we go, so the boys decided that running around, and pretending that the little stage was the American Idol stage were super fun.

Bart's brother, Bret, and his family came to stay with us this weekend. We had fun going to the wildlife sanctuary, shopping, playing games, and playing video games together.

Kade and Ky like playing with their only cousin, Cooper, and really like him most of the time. Unless I am holding him, and then they despise him. Also, they don't like when Cooper "hits" them or sits on them. Then they cry...I thought they were tougher than that.

grandpa bob

A while back my grandfather gave me a box full of old pictures of his time in the service. After a computer crash and a few other setbacks ... Ashli and I have finally finished scanning and editing them. Thought I would share a few here on our blog. It was a great experience to go through these pictures and learn just a little more about my grandpa Bob. Thanks Ashli for helping and lending your editing skills.

I had so much fun taking these pictures of this sweet, tiny baby boy. I so wish I had better pictures of my babies when they were this tiny. They keep growing too fast! Check out the rest of the pictures here.

flower baby shower

Last week, my friend Greta and I threw a baby shower for Brittney and the baby girl she is expecting next month. We decided on a flower theme and got a little carried away with all the flowers we made. It was so much fun and looked awesome too!

mischief

My boys are not mischievous. I usually don't have to worry too much about them getting into trouble while I am in the shower or busy cooking dinner. Sure they know how to make a mess, but usually it is just their own toys that they scatter about.

However, on Wednesday I had to shovel the driveway before we could go out for the day. I was only out there for about twenty minutes, and when I came in, this is what I saw:

There were strawberry leaves everywhere because they had gotten into the fridge (which they never do on their own, except to get a drink), opened the fruit drawer, pulled out the unopened box of strawberries (that I was saving for Valentine's dinner), cut the tops off with their children's scissors, and ate all but 2 of a $5 box of strawberries. At least they were eating healthy, right?

Our friends let us borrow their Beatles Rockband for a few days, and we had so much fun with it! Bart and I play Rockband, which is too hard for the kids, but they loved Beatles Rockband. Here is a cute video of Ky on drums and Kade singing. He knows most of the words because, "Here Comes the Sun" is on The Bee Movie. However, before you watch this, you have to promise to ignore me playing guitar in my pj's in the background, and ignore the fact that half way through, Kade looks like he's going to wet his pants. Otherwise it's a very cute video.
