amazing dance last night!

In case you missed the last dance on SYTYCD last night, you have to watch it. I have already watched it a dozen times, and I still think it's amazing! Also it helps if you know that Alex (with the red sleeves) is the one being judged, and he is strictly a ballet dancer. Twitch is from a previous season. I can't get enough of this dance!

on-call

I think the boys' concept of what it means when daddy is "on-call" is a little off. A few months ago when we asked what "on-call" means, Ky replied that it means you have to take your own car.

Last night, Kade's toy pager started beeping and this is the conversation that followed:

Bart: Kade, you're being paged, better call the hospital.
(Kade pretended to call the hospital)
Me: What happened? What do they need?
Kade: Someone got dead-so I have to go in tomorrow to fix it. I need some glue, that will fix it. It's not just any kind of glue, it's super glue. It stays on forever.

If only life were that simple, Kade.

just a few things

Here are a bunch of random things we've been doing the past few weeks. If you care.
On May 15th, Bart and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary. I can't even believe we've been together that long. It has seriously flown by, but it has been an amazing 7 years!!
We celebrated by going out to eat. Funny this picture makes it look like I was the only one who got a meal. I assure you that I wasn't.
That weekend we also took the boys to a baseball game. Okay, honestly we only took them to the very end of a baseball game, after they stop taking tickets so it's free. Maybe we are cheap, but their attention span isn't very long anyway. You'll be happy to know that we are paying to see an entire baseball game with them tomorrow. Anyway, they had these fun cars that the boys wanted to have their pictures taken with.

After the game, Kade asked the bat boy if he could have a ball, and he gave him one. Kade was so proud to have a real baseball.
Isn't Ky the coolest? I know.

We ended the day by going to dinner at Red Robin, which is seriously our default restaurant. Whenever we can't decide where to go to eat, somehow we always end up there. And we always order the same thing.
The weather here has been so weird. All of April was so cold. The beginning of May too. Then, last week it was almost 90 degrees every day. That's hot for here, (everyone else here complained about the heat, but not us. We loved it!) especially considering all of last summer it only got above 80 two or three times. So, we took advantage of the warm weather and bought the boys a blow-up pool with a slide. They love it. It took them a while to decide that they would like sliding down the slide through the spraying water, but once they did it, they had a great time.

For Memorial Day, we went to a parade in the morning (I love parades), and then had a BBQ in the evening. Bart's mom brought these huge marshmallows for s'mores, and they were a huge hit. Here she is helping Ky toast his over our fancy fire pit, a.k.a. our charcoal grill.

Kade says they are delish!

daughtry and cavo!!!

Last Friday my friend Greta and I went to the Daughtry concert. We had so much fun!! I love Chris Daughtry and it was fun to go with someone else who likes his music too. Also, as a fun surprise, I found out a few days before that I won backstage passes to hang out with the opening band, Cavo. I only knew one of their songs, but I did a little research before we went so I could feel like I knew who they were a bit more. That night, we went in this tiny room with less than 30 other people and had a little acoustic concert and talked with the band.
This is Casey, the lead singer and Chad the drummer. They seemed to always have the most to say.
Watching them play the only song I knew from the radio was so cool. It made me wish I had even a hint of musical talent.
This is the bass player Bryan

The guitarist Chris--he basically said nothing the whole time

Please ignore the fact that my eyes are closed. I'm going to have to see if the picture from Greta's camera turned out better. But, I had to post a picture of us with the band. Aren't we cool?

Here they are performing later that night. They played much louder on stage than they did backstage.
So, cool story. After they performed, Lifehouse did. When Lifehouse was almost done, I decided that I had better use the ladies room. I knew if I waited, the line would be long and I might miss some of Daughtry, which I wasn't going to do. So, I ran out into the hall toward the restroom. I heard a man say, "Are you doing the potty dance?" I turned and said, "No." Then I realized that it was 3 of the 4 members of Cavo and that Casey had asked. I told him that I just needed to beat all the other women to the restroom. Then I told him that since we were friends now, I guess that meant that I got to chat with them in the hall. They asked how I liked the show, and I told them it was great. Then I gave them high-fives, and went into the bathroom. The girl behind me said, "That wasn't Cavo was it?" I told her it was and she asked why I got to talk to them in the hall and give them high-fives. So I told her that we were friends, and that we had backstage passes earlier. I felt so cool.

Then came THE BEST part of the night. I got to watch Chris Daughtry perform live!!
I wish I had better pictures, but this is the best I have.
It went by so fast, but we had a blast. I would totally go see them in concert again sometime.
Until then, I guess I just have to keep listening to their CDs and watch the blurry video clips I have from the concert.

going to the dentist

I took the boys to see the dentist this past week. They were so excited and talked to the dentist and the hygienist so much. Kade kept trying to talk to them while they were working on his teeth. He also kept stopping them and saying, "Can I ask you one question?" Then he would ask them some silly question, only some of them dental related. It's a really good thing they had such a good time, because filling Ky's cavities ain't gonna be cheap.

no more ducks

We enjoyed having the baby ducks at our house for a few weeks, but they grew so fast! When they were two weeks old, we decided it was time to take them to a farm where they would have more room to run around. But we sure liked having them here while they were little.

A few days before we took the ducks to the farm, we let them play outside in our back yard. Bart set out a pie tin with water for them to drink. Apparently we forgot to bring the water dish inside, because the next morning, when the boys went out to play it was still there. I told them to just dump it out, so they didn't accidentally step in it and spill dirty duck water on themselves. Well, when they dumped it out, we were surprised to see that the top layer had frozen and there was a nice circle of ice. I went back inside to get something for the boys and when I came back less than a minute later, they were both crunching on something. I said, "What are you eating?" "Ice." Umm yeah, the ice that came from the duck water that sat outside all night. Gross. Gross. Gross. But it makes for a funny story and I didn't want to forget it!

Ky looking in on the ducks in their new, much larger home on the farm They were so much bigger than they were two weeks before. But still fluffy and cute!
Kade chasing a chicken on the farm. This picture has nothing to do with the ducks, but I thought it was funny!

iron man and war machine

Kade and Ky have been pretending to be superheros for several months. It used to change every day, and I would have to guess which superhero they were that day and call them that all day. However, about two months ago, they saw a preview for Iron Man 2, and they were hooked. Luckily we already had an Iron Man costume that we bought after Halloween last year, because that and Captain America were the only ones left that were their size. Only, they never wanted to wear the Iron Man costume until they saw the trailer. Now, every day, Kade is Iron Man, (or Tony Stark) and Ky is War Machine (or Rhodey), and we are supposed to call them that. They've even told their teachers at church and the Little Gym to call them by their superhero names.

Ky's War Machine costume (if you don't know who War Machine is, he's in the 2nd movie, and he's Iron Man's sidekick) was a black Spiderman costume that I added grey fabric to (in a very sloppy manner--please don't laugh at the costume, I had no idea what I was doing.)

A few weeks ago, Bart and I got the first Iron Man movie from Netflix and the day after we watched it, we let the boys watch it--sort of--the movie is over 2 hours long, and the boys saw less than an hour of it total. There was a lot of fast forwarding going on. But they loved it!

The best part is that they actually think they are going to be the real Iron Man and War Machine when they grow up. They know they are just pretending now, but when they grow up, they are going to have real suits and will really be able to fly.

I also love that they never fight over who gets to be Iron Man. Ky is perfectly happy being the sidekick. He's such a good brother!

Oh yeah, and they have stopped calling me mom, and refer to me as Pepper or Miss Potts most of the time.
