march 2020 happenings

March 2020 was when our lives kinda got flipped upside down.  We spent the first half of the month blissfully unaware that the world was going to shut down in a matter of days.
We got to meet up with Krew at school for lunch during the week that he was class "Superstar"
Krew and I went to Paintin' Pottery and he painted this adorable ceramic moose.  He loves that place and it has become a yearly tradition to get a gift certificate for Christmas and spend a cold, wintery day painting.

We love celebrating St. Patrick's Day at our house.  Green clothes, green food ALL day, and a shamrock hunt with prizes.  Of course, this St. Patrick's Day was different because it was the first day that the schools all shut down and we were told we would have to isolate at home for a few weeks because of COVID-19.  I was actually glad that we had the fun traditions of St. Patrick's Day to keep our minds off of how scary and uncertain things were at that moment.

We filled those first quarantine days with art projects and games, and the kids were excited to have a few days off while the teachers figured out how school was going to work virtually.
We had our first at-home church service, and wondered how many weeks we would be doing sacrament meeting at home, just the 6 of us.
When it was warm enough, we spent time outside, in our yard.

On March 27th, we took this hike in the mud.  It was cold, and windy, but we didn't care.  I remember feeling like it had been forever since we had left the house, and was glad for something to do, even if it was cold and muddy.  It's crazy to think that 10 days of being isolated at home felt like a really, really, long time.

We tried not to go out the store very often, just once every week or two.  This is what so many of the shelves looked like at the store. It felt very eerie, but even though I couldn't always buy what I wanted, we never ran out of the things we needed.
