krew turns six!

Krew turned 6 on October 28th!  We started his birthday a few days early by taking cupcakes to his kindergarten class.  They were, of course, bird cupcakes!

It was so fun watching him share a treat with his classmates.
On his actual birthday, he started the morning by going with dad and Grandpa Zen to a poultry swap meet (yes, that is apparently a real thing).  He got to see all kinds of cool birds, which of course he loved!

I'm not sure what about this cake appealed to him, but after looking at looooooots of different cake ideas on Pinterest, this is the cake design that he wanted.  I was super happy to make it because a) it's super cute and b) I knew I couldn't mess it up!

Since his birthday was on a Saturday, he was happy to learn that he could open his presents in the middle of the day, instead of having to wait until everyone was home in the evening like usual.  It's the small things in life, right?
His presents were definitely bird-themed; no surprise there.

One of his absolute favorite presents was this real ostrich egg.  What 6 year old boy asks for an ostrich egg for their birthday??  He really is an unique and awesome little guy!

His birthday was so full of excitement that he fell asleep in the car, something that he hasn't done in a long time.  Of course he insisted that he wasn't sleeping, just resting his eyes.
The activity he chose for fun was going to the trampoline park.  It was a super fun day and I'm so glad we got to spend it together celebrating this amazing boy!
